Bio

Dr. Robert Lugo is an American board-certified physiatrist specializing in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain disorders of the spine and joints. With a patient-centered approach, he focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of pain through minimally invasive interventional procedures. His expertise lies in helping patients regain mobility and improve their quality of life.

Dr. Lugo earned his master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL, where he conducted original research in ischemic stroke. His medical training includes an internship at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, CA, followed by a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at Manhattan Restorative Health Sciences in New York, NY.

Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Lugo was a talented athlete and earned an NCAA Division I track and field scholarship to Long Beach State University, where he excelled in discus and hammer throws. His passion for understanding the neuromusculoskeletal system developed further during his medical studies at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, CA.

During his residency, Dr. Lugo volunteered as a sports medicine physician, where he treated professional athletes from boxing, mixed-martial arts, and college football. His dedication to both sports and medicine allows him to bring a unique perspective to pain management and rehabilitation.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Lugo enjoys spending time with his wife and family, as well as pursuing his interests in weightlifting, music, art, and barbecuing. His well-rounded background and deep commitment to patient care make him a distinguished physician in the field of pain management.
